Projects

On The Record: A Century of Journalism Education at Nevada

As the director of photography I filmed several interviews and b-roll for this documentary film that highlights the history of journalism education at the University of Nevada, Reno. As ad archival researchist, I helped research and catalog information, photographs, records, and more for this project. This film was selected as the Best in Competition in the Faculty category at the Broadcast Educational Association Festival of Media Arts

Piconland: The Quest for the Perfect Picon Punch

This documentary film explores the culture and people behind Nevada's unofficial state drink, the Picon Punch. Popularized and patronized by the local Basque culture, this drink is a quick conversation starter. This film weaves through the Basque culture in Nevada and stories behind the infamous drink. I served as the director of photography, associate producer and co-editor. This been has been selected for premiere screening at the 2023 Dam Short Film Festival and won Best in Nevada Film at the festival.

Climate Change and Wildfire

A project focused on distilling the science of a drying and warming atmosphere and how it is shifting the way fires act upon the landscape. This project visualized the science through data visualizations, photography, and a six-minute explainer video. I utilized ten interviews, dozens of scientific reports and articles, and field reporting to inform the story of how climate change may be altering the fire regime.

Massacre Rim Dark Sky

Working with the International Dark Sky Association and Bureau of Land Management, I conducted research along with fieldwork to quantify the darkness of the proposed area. I then compiled findings into the final proposal and worked with Friends of Nevada Wilderness to submit and win a designation for the Massacre Rim Wilderness Study Area, in 2019.
