Advocates of the Unhoused

I started covering the unhoused crisis the summer of 2020. Deep into the pandemic, the unhoused community had grown at this time, though now one knew to what extent. With each reporting trip and story, I grew more invested and interested in everyone's plight. I began to realize that my reporting, produced for a small multimedia student ran collective, was oftentimes the only stories in the community about our unhoused neighbors.

At the time same, members of the community were stepping in and providing resources such as nutritional food, toiletries, laundry services, and much more, to help ease the trauma of being unhoused. I began to form a story that highlights the importance of advocating for the unhoused in my mind and this set of photographs and videos is just the beginning.
